A lot of fields here have irregular and interior headlands. If you set your AB or A+ line first on a 500, it's line 1, even if it's a dummy line. After you've done your headlands, you can select the straight line 1 by selecting the next line up as the counter rolls around and it only takes one push on the button. I use freeform for headlands.
