Maybe this does not apply to all closing wheels, but I believe Dawn feels the Keetons are not necessary when using their Curvetine closing wheels as they sqeeze the air pocket out and still firm the seed area sufficiently.

I've used both Keetons and Rebounders. I have a JD planter with regular gauge wheels but do run two Curvetines. I worry more about what the Keetons may or may not do verses the Rebounder. I apply on the seed starter either way. Most likely I will go back to Rebounders next time when my Keetons get worn. Either way I have had good luck.
