Subject: RE: New house might not need this but:

Iowa
I do a lot of wet basement work.Older homes. So I never get involved with a properly-built and drained "new" home and therefore this may not be needed:

Once we do our thing, we always have everyone paint a waterproof/sealing "paint" on the walls before we let them cover them up. Zissler (brand) Watertite" oil base is what has worked best for us. It has a "mildicide" (sp) mold and mildew retardant in it. We have them paint out onto the floor a few inches as well to help seal up where the walls and floor meet. I was very skeptical when this was first recc'd to me as "how can just a paint hold back moisture", but it really does help. And while I don't often go back to a site later, no one has ever called and complained of mold/mildew re-forming.

Like I said, maybe not needed at all......

Can't help you with the sleeping area, except maybe behave and not get sent there!!!
