Western CO | Might want to check on the steady state current requirement for the 500 and make sure it is below the size of the diode you choose. When you connect the diode connect the end with the stripe (on that diode it is the silver stripe at the right end of the body in the picture) to the motorcycle battery. Diodes have very little resistance but it does take 0.7V to forward bias them so that they will pass current, once you have them forward biased the current can rise exponentially compared to the voltage across it (up to the limit of the device of course).
As for the restart time for a 500 on omni* just make sure you have Fast Restart enabled in the Omni* setup page and it will skip the convergence time so long as the vehicle has not moved (actually the antenna). | |
