Subject: Question about PTO shaft setups?

Piedmont, NC
Got a boom mower. Its got a really heavy Hydraulic pump with a speed accelerator on it for a 540 bolt on the back hook up. I'm making the mower into a 3pt lift instead of the old 3pt rigid that hooks to the underneath the tractor. I'm putting it on a bigger tractor so I think the 3pt arms will handle it with stabilize bars.I don't want to hook and unhook that heavy pump so I want to run a PTO shaft to it. I thought if I can mount that pump and put a double sided male 540 shaft to it with a pillow block bearing I could just hook PTO shaft to it and go on with it. This would make it easy like the newer ones are. But it would have to be stable mounted and long enough to reach through a bearing. Any thoughts or is this impossible?
