Subject: Okay, so what about . . . . .

Here's a question for the group in light of the opinions on the live crowd auction bidding.  Is our way of taking bids good, bad, irritating, fine, other? If bad or irritating, how would you prefer it to be?

For those not familiar:

  • $10 is the initial bid amount on every asset
  • Bidder can bid at any amount at or above the next required bid amount; meaning, for instance, anyone can bid $75,000 for the $100,000 asset right out of the gate if they wish
  • Bidding usually begins at least three weeks before the final day of bidding (the day we refer to as "auction day" even though the auction actually starts when bidding opens)
  • There is no benefit of bidding earlier or later, unless you are trying to blow out the competition with a high, early bid
  • Because it's a no reserve auction, higher than nominal initial/starting bid amounts are no-no's

I'm curious if the opinions are different in the internet only auction context.
