Yes they can, bolt that held the feederhouse tensioner in place broke several year back and went through only damage was it messed up 4 or 5 "wires" took them out and was able to get new ones from deere looked and and worked just like new after I fixed it, they were actually even pretty reasonable priced if I remember correctly.
