Sharp bit, plenty of coolant/cutting oil. If it gets slow, then stop and sharpen before you heat the steel. Sometimes it can get very hard. probably depends on what alloy you're dealing with, but I remember something that got really hard before I got through it after I kept pushing a dull bit when I should have stopped.
