The difference is in the software calculations of the steering controller. The receiver only inputs it's current position.

My only experience with it is this. I ran JD RTK for 4 years strip tilling corn on corn. The winter of 2010 we traded tractors and purchased Auto farm Paradyme's to steer them. I'm not going to say it was not noticable, but it wasn't a huge problem for us. I did some testing with both steering systems in the same tractor, and on an east west row it was not a problem. On a N/S row it was off maybe 1-2" in a mile. I was worried about being able to plant in my strips, but it all turned out fine.

The effect of the variation will depend on the size of the field/row directions and distance to the equator (closer the better). I'm basically located at 42North, 93West. However, the easiest way to find out it is to put a second receiver/display in one of your tractors set the same line and see the difference on the other side of the field.

Lance might be able to chime in and give you the actual math
