| I'm Catholic. While some may consider it too "liberal", my church takes a real harda$$ approach to a few things. Marriage is definitely one of them.
When my folks got married in 1960 the rules were more strict than today. Mom converted from Methodist to Catholic during that time because back then Catholics were not even allowed to marry Protestants. Also it was a requirement everyone in the wedding party be Catholic. Not so today. I will say I do consider this sort of liberalization a good thing.
