Nevada, Iowa | No expert here but I have used Grazon in pastures. It works well and I think it could easily be applied in the time frame you're thinking. I believe Grazon is a pre mix of 2,4-D and Tordon. Tordon can be a soil sterilizer if over applied. It will not kill grasses at the proper application rate and will do a nice job on most unwanted trees. It can leach into unwanted areas so keep that in mind when applying next to desirable trees.
Crossbow may be an acceptable alternative for you also. It is a mixture of 2,4-D and triclopyr, I feel like it may be a safer product to use but you may want to read up on it some more. I have used it to spray fencerows after the crop is up and it doesn't seem to require any more safety precautions than 2,4-D alone. It is not quite as easy to take trees down with Crossbow and may take two passes when coverage is difficult to obtain. | |
