Kingston,Mi
Is it possible that this spider may also inhabit houses, culverts, bridges old trees and crack joints in cities? I would hope that it could be found where it makes some else's life interesting.

Drain Commissioner in Sanilac Co. Michigan was doing a routine clean out of the Black River near Deckerville, when some evirowhackos tried to stop progress by envoking the endangered species act for the Riffle Shelled Muscle. Their claim was that the Black River was 1 of anly 2 places that this specie lived and that cleaning the river would destroy the habitat and doom the muscle to extinction. The drain commissioner said "we'll fill a couple of bushel baskets with them and repopulate when we are done" and that the previous clean outs had not exterminated them, why would a maintance clean out be any different. He cleaned the drain.

The other site that the Riffle Shell Muscle lives in is in the Detroit River in front of the mayors mansion.
