Subject: RE: Why is our house so so dusty inside

central - east central Minnesota -

deereman - 1/10/2012 22:50 Wife is contantly complaining must be something wrong because she has to dust everything way to often. We have a 6 yr old house in NE SD and have a air to air carrier heat pump. We put those paper filters in the duct work in basement and they hardly get dirty at all. Is it something to do with return vents? It just can't be normal. If sun is shining just right through the window you can see lots of dust in the air. Is it something in carpet? We have no air exchanger either. We also tried a paper type filter that goes directly in the vent at the floor level but this did not help either. Thanks for any help

How often do you change air filters ? And, how dirty are they ? Real dusty homes should have the filters changed at least monthly, and it will show on the filter (it'll be dirty).
Keeping the fan running continuously, will help suck the lose, airborn dust into the furnace filters.
Do you have an air exchanger with the furnace ? If so, have you cleaned the filters on that?
As others have pointed out, carpet is a number one contributer to dust - It is cheaply made today as compared to yrs back.Unless you really upgraded and have wool blend carpets . . . .
Same with bedding - it really sheds materials into the air . . .
Use one of those swifter dusting pads and go over your walls in your bedroom and see how much dust comes off the wall . . .
How often do you/she vacume ? That makes a difference also, with the amount of dust that can be tracked in a house from out side . . . . .
