South Dakota | Monsanto has done much to make the world a better place. I am not so sure if their accomplishments couldn't have been done by someone else but because they are an aggressive company they get much of the credit. I Still think the technology for roundup ready was purchased from a public university but I can't find proof of that. I was the last one in my area to go to roundup ready beans and I have yet to see yields I had with conventional in the 70's and 80's. One thing that bothers me is the lack of genetic diversity in corn that may someday comeback and bite us if a major new disease springs up. Just like the weeds we have now were unheard of before Roundup ready. We have to stay one step of the technology once it has started....kind of like a flu vaccine. | |
