South Dakota | The Phillip Morris Company paid my Grand Uncle Dr Orman Street of The University of Maryland to do a toxicity study of tobacco in the early 60's. Most tobacco before the 50's was naturally dried for months in special sheds. Cigarette companies started using a desiccant to speed the drying process up to a few days. Thus the majority of toxicity of cigarettes according to my Uncles study. His study was owned by Phillip Morris and he was legally bound to keep the results unpublished. | |
