Subject: Re: John Deere 995 switch plow

Huntley Montana
I bought a new 8 bottom last fall, ordered another 1 for next fall. The 3 problems I had with the 1st 1 are shear bolts don't last, (went through 300&), & the center hitch pin & rear gauge wheel are JUNK. Replaced the center pin with a grade 8 bolt & bought a wheel from GENSCO for the rear. Have a idea for the shear bolts to grind a little where the bolt goes through to get them to be "more over center" to make them harder to shear..
Was supprised on how easy the 8410 pulled the 8 bottom. I farm every thing from blow sand to some gumbo that weighs 50 oz to the pound.
