Well Monsanto has a long history of the worst greedy practices and disrespect for the environment and human health since Vietnam, together with lobbying, revolving doors and utter lies pushed to the extreme, which other GMO seed producers don't have, at least nowhere near Monsanto's level. I wonder how many billions of dollars dioxins alone, the most potent carcinogen on Earth, has cost human society worldwide.

Many points were already mentioned here, so I won't repeat them, but I am mostly concerned by the health issue. The USDA, FDA, EPA and NIH haven't conducted a single study on GMOs, and the few performed outside of the U.S., or even an objective and scientific review of the studies provided by Monsanto to the gov agencies show that there are enough health concerns to require the usual long term studies, as is the case with all other new organisms introduced as food or medicine. But Monsanto genially pushed the "substantially equivalent" argument to make sure GMOs have no form of scientific review whatsoever.

Biodiversity is also affected; Years ago, most of the traditional corn ("criola") in Mexico was already infected with Monsanto's genes, at a time when Mexico didn't even grow GMO corn officially, so I guess that by now, it's 100%. GMO technology is currently nowhere near the level of safety and efficiency that it was supposed to be, and it looks like, for the short term profit of one corporation that wanted to dictate its own law, we are now plagued with long term consequences we are just starting to experience, some of them irremediable. We already see Bt-tolerant insects and RR-resistant weeds, or, after reaching a peak, reduced production because every cell in the whole plant is producing Bt, even in parts that are not edible to the corn borer or that are edible to us, instead of redirecting these resources to seed production.

We all already read Monsanto propaganda, but any farmer who uses GMOs should read (critically, of course) Seeds of Destruction, Seeds of Deception, The World According to Monsanto (or watch the documentary) as a starter. Even if only half of this is true, it is much worse than what I knew before reading them. These books are easy reading, maybe too popular for some, but they reference peer-reviewed scientific studies for further reading.
