Ft. Wayne | "I hate to give them the bad news, but without Monsanto there would be a whole lot more starving people in the world!"
Can you give some evidence to support this statement? I believe hunger in the world is more a function of economics, politics, and distribution of food. The "feed the world" bit is thrown around awful loosely. If we really are commanded as the US farmer to feed the world shouldn't we be growing food on our CRP, golf courses, and how many 10s of millions of acres of manicured lawns?
If you want to talk about biotech feeding hungry people, I believe Syngenta has done the most work and innovation with rice, which would have a better chance to get into the hands of the hungry. But even that is a stretch. | |
