I know one young farmer who sold 140 bu per acre at $7.11 and I encouraged him to go for it to build his profits from his first big year in farming. Now he has money to pay the bills and expand even more this year.
I am assuming a lot, which religates my comments to coffee shop speculation and worth no more than that, but - I kinda feel sorry for that kid.
Farming is easy, can always gamble & hit it big so no problems, expand big to make it real big fast... He's gona have a hard time of it. Be outa farming in 10 years, busted.
The kid that started in abouts 1982, or 2004ish, when corn was sold for less than it cost to produce and still found ways to keep working at it & make it go - those are the ones that have a solid foundation and education and will be around a long time.
Again, painting with a broad brush and don't mean anything on one individual, just a general observation...
