Scottville, 49454 Northwest Michigan | Doc,
With all due respect, I disagree. We have found that using tracks instead of tires in adverse conditions is better for the combine. Whatever method keeps us on top of the ground and away from creating twelve inch deep and greater trenches, is better for the combine. For us anyway's, rutting around in a muddy field and ramming back and forth trying to get unstuck with the combine on tires is harder on the combine versus running it with tracks. This is probably especially so for the hydro. Whenever we took the tires off and put the tracks on, we hardly ever heard the undesirable whining noise from the hydro. I've got a suspicion that if you would have used your combine with tires instead of the tracks where you did, your combine would look and be in worse condition than it is now. The only way I can think of how a combine would be better off not running with tracks is if we would never run the combine in mud. For us anyway's, that just isn't always a feasible choice.
