Brazilton KS | So, what you are saying is, that according to the CFR, as well as the CA stuff you cited, retreaded tires are allowed on the steering axle, as long as they have not been retreaded more then two times and they have not had section repairs, and they have DOT numbers. Funny....I already knew that, that's why I said I didn't think you knew what you were talking about when you said they were not allowed. I don't think anyone does section repairs on a $25-50 truck tire casing, but if they do, then yes, it would be ineligible for use on the steer axle. That doesn't mean "you can't run retreaded tires on the steering axle," as you contended, that means "you can't run section repaired tires on the steering axle." Those three "very restrictive marking requirements" don't amount to much, considering that any retreads done in the US are going to have DOT numbers on them. I don't know anything about GA laws, but I find it hard to believe that they would pass laws which restrict interstate movement of commerce. If you care to provide evidence of such law, I would be glad to see it.
