Agent Orange: Friendly fire that keeps on burning. | I have a 12K two post in my shop. Bought it from Greg Smith Equipment. It is rated as 12K if floor plate configured. The same hoist is rated at 15K if it configured as a clear floor model. I didn't have headroom clearance so I installed a top brace that's hidden above the ceiling in my shop.
I expect it is now at least a 15K hoist. Heavy hoists are really made for higher clearance vehicles and lifting a car takes some positioning to get clearance for the lift arms. The hoist came with truck adapters and works well for a pickup.
It works well without the adapters for an SUV type vehicle. When I built this shop, the floor was considered pretty stout for the day but was never really intended for something like a lift. Choosing a lift with large footprint baseplates removed a lot of uncertainty about whether the hoist would punch through the floor. I've seen pictures of that and it isn't pretty
