Garrett County, MD | We are by no means a trucking company, but we do have trucks on the road almost every day of the week. Full day runs. We run caps and from my experience they are as good as new tires. The key is find a shop that does good work capping the tire and stick with them. Also only use virgin casing of a good brand. Most reputable shops will only use virgin casings. The picture you have displayed is not a problem with the cap, but the casing. It was probably not a virgin casing when capped. If you are an over the road trucker then maybe run new tires, but for a farmer who needs heavy tread for off road use, and for a farmer that will pop a tire on a rock jacking around in a field or farm road before he will ever wear out the tread, caps are the way to go. Save the money and take your wife on a date...
Just my 1 penny...
