| Different types of retreads though. If i remember correctly what my tire guy told me, Bandag wraps the tread around the tire, and you then has a splice. That makes it easier to throw the tread.
We're using West End Tire retreads. Apparently they have two different styles. One puts a layer of hot rubber over the tire and then makes the tread impression with 360 degree pressure. Their other method is a Ring Tread. The tread is made on some other machine, stretched and then placed over the casing. Both systems have no splices and therefore less chance of the tread flying off. I'm told the ring treads are better (cost about $20 more per tire).
