I wouldn't panic unless 1/4 of the ear was growing and the sprout's were longer than a 1/2 inch. I've seen sprouted corn a number of year's and by the time it get's dried and run through a few auger's you never would know they had sprout's on them. If taking straight from field to elevator then I'd be more excited also as they would see it and dock away.
