Idaho
I like the quality plastic trays which can be taken to a project, dumped, cleaned and inventoried. I recommend enough bins to provide segregated storage for bolts in 1/4" increments from 1/2" through 3". the remainder in 1/2" up to 5". This would apply to 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8. Other sizes in 1/2 breaks. Having the ability to size a bolt so the shank holds the stress or has no pivot points on threads (my pet peeve) has improved our maintenance productivity and quality. I also recommend separate sized storage for the following:
Regular nuts w/ a reusable zip tie full of jam nuts
Flanged serrated nuts w/ a reusable zip tie full of coupler nuts
Lock washers w/ reusable zip tie full of self locking nuts
Flat washers w/ heavy gauge washers
Fender washer zip tied by diameter and gauge

Bunch of stuff? Yes. But not as expensive as having to run to town to get a single item, having to redo cause it was not fixed right the first time. Also a limited selection of grade 8. This all varies depending upon the distance to a reliable supplier, the value of your time and how many bars there are in between. My heart goes out (not really) to those who are in the metric mess.
