Subject: RE: Hypertherm Plasma ????

The Powermax65 (and Powermax85) plasma systems from Hypertherm have different sets of consumables (nozzles....some call them "tips") for fine tuning the cut quality on different materials and thicknesses. There are the FineCut consumables for under 1/8"....the 45 amp parts for cutting well from gauge to 1/4" and the 65 amp parts for cutting all other materials. The larger Powermax 85 has these consumables plus an 85 amp set for heavy cutting.

You can find a lot of detail reagrding plasma cutting in general on Hypertherm's website www.hypertherm.com . If you click on the Product tab...then manual systems then Powermax65/85 you will go right to those products.

There are optional CPC and Serial ports available for the Powermax65 and 85.....these are for interfacing to cnc cutting machines or to other types of mechanized cutting devices such as track burners or pipe cutters. They can be added in kit form to these systems at any time...or they can be ordered installed on the unit.

Best regards, Jim Colt Hypertherm

I know another plasma question but I did the search.
Narrowed my choice to a Hypotherm 65 with 25 ft lead because I want to be able to cut 1" steel. Question is will it cut 1/8 steel ok or am I giving light work up for heavy work?
I also noticed it can be ordered with a pcm and some other computer socket. I assume that is for machine or computer guided scenarios. Will I be sorry for not having them? They add $100 each to the price.

thanks
