There isn't much seed corn around here but whenever I see a seed corn field after its been harvested I wonder if they even spray those fields.
Oh Yeah are they sprayed. The problem is actually three fold. 1st is the nature of the plant. My experience is prentice corn is rely impressive and often kind of weak. 2nd is detasseling. Take a weak looking parent then remove a major portion of it. 3rd is male row removal. For a couple reasons most companies knock down the male rows when pollination is done. Put all these together and you have little to no canopy to keep weeds and especially grass down.
