Central NE

Most of the seeds retail for $205-250 per bag, with most purchased for $154-200 with discounts
The 62-97 retails for over $350 per bag, and if you could get $50 in discounts you would still be $100-146 per bag more expensive than the others.

A plant population of 31K per acre translates into 2.58 acres per bag.

$100 / 2.58 = $38.8 per acre more expensive  / $6/bu  = 6.46 bushels per acre more expensive
$146 / 2.58 = $56.6 per acre more expensive    / $6/bu  = 9.43 bushels per acre more expensive

I don't know about you, but I don't grow corn for anybody else for less than 50% of the crop so if I am going to grow corn for monsanto, I expect to make 50% of the revenue to cover risk, drying, hauling, insuring, fertilizing, ROI, etc...  so double the figures above.

So I would need to be convinced that I could grow 13- 19 bushels more before I would buy 62-97 at current prices
