Subject: Re: Drag chains and spiked closing wheels

sj3788 - 11/28/2011 21:29 On my 6100, I have 2 spiked(Martins) wheels and drag chains. Imade my chains longer and have almost on problems wtih them fliping up. I notll everything, but have with this setup planted in worked ground with no problems. On my soybean planter have setup, but put 4 rows of the thompson wheels with no chains on and like this setup very well. With these wheels don't seem to need dragchain in cornstalks. Will switch over to this setup on bean planter. Thompson has a much heavier bearing in their hub and have had to replace a lot of bearings in Martins.

Thanks for the report, Stephan.  Many of our customers say the same thing -- with the Thompson wheels, there's no need for a drag chain.
