Subject: Re: Cotton in Kansas?

East Prairie, MO
I've just started raising cotton, this was my 2nd year. Had 300 acres both years and find it is a great tool for marginal dryland acres that struggle to raise a bean crop. Very good in a corn/cotton rotation. I have some acres that just don't raise beans very well and cotton is standing out as a yielder in droughthy conditions. Another advantage on sand is I have some bigger pivots on one farm that can't keep a corn crop satisfied on a dry summer but cotton is much easier to keep watered, ended up pulling 2.1 bales off of a circle last year after record heat and dry that had 75 bu. corn across the turn row under another pivot.
