Edson, Alberta, Canada

You see now...THERE!! THAT'S WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT!

lol...sorry for yelling. I have been asking and asking if the age of the beans makes any difference to how tender they cook up and how long it takes and everyone I asked all said "I dunno??"
The beans we have in our cupboard are likely older than me because my loving partner doesn't cook beans because they make you stinky.

And I hear you about trying to duplicate "Grandma's beans"....or anything else for that matter. For the most part it just can't be done. While this new batch of beans are good they certainly are not as good as my Ma used to make back in the day. My Ma used to make "white beans" as well. No molasses in them. They were certainly different than regular brown beans but tasty in their own right. I tried making them once and it was a total disaster.

On the upside I did learn a new way (to me) to make Baking Powder biscuits. They turned out excellent.

Thanks for the input.
Regards,
Dave.
