Southern Lower Michigan | It is hard to justify the cost, for the amount of hoses that need to be replaced. But it sure is nice being able to get back in the field on a Saturday afternoon, or to finish the field that evening.
When you buy an crimper. Try to get an adjustable one. The ones that use the spacer disc. pretty much are tyed to the same fittings as the model of crimper( weatherhead, parker, ect. ). With an adjustable , you pretty much can use anybodies hose , and fittings.
The proper crimp of a fitting is based on the Crimp Diameter ( This is the diameter of the fitting, after it is crimped to a specific hose ). With the ones with the spacer disc, you get only the crimp, that the spacer lets you get( which mnatches their hose, and fittings). With an adjustable kind, you can get any crimp diameter (with the proper die) that is needed.
An aeroquip 1380 is adjustable, and I believe the gates 707 is also, plus some others.
