We have a couple of units and can crimp up to 2" 4 wire spiral which takes about 150ton. That unit is an adjustable Imperial Eastman. If you do not want to change brands of hose and fittings then get a fixed die unit. (The fixed die unit put you at the mercy of the manufacturer.)
But we use different brands of hose and fittings because of the adjustable units. We make a lot of hose for ourselves and others. You never have enough fittings and adapters but we probably have at least $10,000 in fittings and another $5,000 in hose. We buy the fittings in bulk. A&I have their PIX brand which is slightly smaller in OD but is very flexible. But we generally use NRP-Jones products from Indiana. But if we see a reel of other brands we will use that also. All of the one piece fittings are "bite to the wire style" but we have two piece fittings also esp for the large hose.
But if you just get a 1/2 dozen of the most popular sizes along with the hose you will gain a lot of independance evenings and on the weekends.
