Macoupin county Illinois | in my opinion answering the door with a gun is a really bad idea, there would be nothing wrong with asking them to leave through a closed door or having a safety chain installed, keep the conversation short and polite but quickly ask them to leave, she could possibly call you or a neighbor on the phone and have the phone in hand as she's talking to them. The problem i have with not answering the door at all is what if this person is there for the purpose of breaking into an empty house. She doesn't owe these people conversation or reasons, just a quick answer then politely ask them to leave, then shut the door. If they don't leave dial 911. I'm sure this situation can be threatening to a woman at home alone.
