thumb of michigan | Last year I had a bit of slug trouble on one field that was slow to come up, but the rest of my corn seems ok with it. For the worms to work it is a combination of things. Strip or no till, crop rotation and cover crops all play a part in happy worms. After 5 years of strip till I have cut my fertilizer use almost in half while increasing yields and overall soil fertility. Was it all worms? No, but with healthier soil you will have healthier worms and more nutrient cycling and more of the natural soils nutrients becoming available. Not to mention cutting fuel use in half and elimination 2 tractors and an employee. | |
