Subject: RE: Keeping creeps away

West Tennessee
I know a guy (actually two now that I think about it) who has the same issues as you. He put up a gate and keeps it CLOSED unless they are coming or going. His gate is just two gates like you'd put up in a pasture and to be honest is not the best looking right on the road. Opening and closing that would be a royal pain for me but every situation is different. I can guarantee the gate is a deterrent for creeps of ALL sorts including thieves. My neighbors across the road also have a very nice gate setup with an electric opener and talk box and camera. They can open or close the gate from in the house and also see who's at it if someone pulls up. I'm sure this setup isn't cheap. If I need to go over there I just call them and they open it from in the house. It seems pretty slick but I also know, as you might expect, that they have problems from time to time with the opener. If I was in your spot this is what I would do (put up some sort of gate and fence). IMO, in the real world it's going to be hard to rely on a gun ALL the time (also the wrong people can get shot, yes I have quite a few guns in my house so not afraid of them myself) and dogs have lots of problems for sure too as you already know. Good luck and post back on what you decide to do.
