Subject: A little time in the Big Easy

Little River, TX
A little human Interest

This last weekend we drove to New Orleans for the Wife's 55 reunion of her Diploma Nursing School friends.
They started with 80 and graduated 40 and just short of 20 were in attendance.

Drove to Morgan City LA on Thursday. Visited with her Brother Thursday evening and a little at his office on Friday. After lunch we drove into N. O. to a new hotel in an old building. The Taxes almost equaled the room rent. It had only been open two months and they still had some kinks to work out. Fortunately they had a first rate staff that was able to work through the management's oversights. About a third of the room cost was state & local taxes.
If my wife had not got her training there it would have zero attraction for me. In the past I have both dropped her off so I could visit with her brother, but this time I again accompanied here on the numerous "places of interest".
Her brother is still actively engaged in running boats on the Gulf. One other good spouse at the reunion is still working full time.

I should have known to take with me both a pair of ear plugs and sound suppressing ear muffs as it was for sure a high noise environment.
The New Orleans Restaurant Staffs should receive hazardous duty pay for the high noise levels.

The time with the Girls reminded me of my time in the Military. Always someone griping about the food, the quarters, and the transportation. Years ago I learned that is not complaining but just making observations. The reaction that would be appropriate in the Air Force would get you killed by those ladies. It is all in the time and place.

I did learn some interesting stuff. It appears in Georgia they are shipping their $30 a roll two year old hay to Texas into this $150 /bale hay market. That may be a semi intelligible observation by an innocent bystander. We did see a steady stream of flat bed trailers hauling round bales on TX 105, I-10, and US 90.

Most of the RB's on TX 105 looked to be Rice Straw. while a good bit of the hay in LA mostly appeared to be some kind of grass hay, maybe well weathered bermudagrass.

Have a Grand & Glorious Season.
