| Next time you run it, after a while of running when its tough, get out and check for any heat build up up front of the rotor where the bearing is. If it is warm, there is too much material getting pinched between the rotor impeller leading edge and the bearing support. the bearing support, (also known as the kidney) needs a square, sharp edge on the outside diameter of it. The impeller blades, no matter what style, need to be adjusted up close to the square edge for running tough material. If you look at the way the feeder shoves the material into the rotor front, you can see the importance of having very little clearence between the impeller and the kidney.
Out here in grass country we run a sharpened edge on the impeller and adjust it up close to a good sharp, and often chromed kindney edge. I have some pics, but I'll wait and see if you even want them before I post them. | |
