ECIL | "Here" it takes 4-6 weeks to start an eviction proceeding, and then the judge will grant the tenant two weeks to find a new address before the landlord can have the tenant's possessions removed. I'm not suggesting waiting to get evicted, only trying to show a possible timeline.
Upon rereading your post, it sounds like the landlord made an oral agreement with you regarding a lease extension until late 2012, whenever that would be. Theoretically that should give you another year on the property. Again, it will depend on the language (or lack thereof) in the original lease. There should always be a written agreement for leases, especially when family is involved. | |
