I guess I smell parasites in this one,,somehow,,,dont know why. You could mineral oil it if you wanted but think for sure a dose of pour-on (or injectable) at this point wouldnt hurt. Could be his mother is milking poorly too,,,or he didnt get colostrum timely for some reason. Does the cow have any signs of mastittis?? I think IF you can get the pair in a smaller pens(yes I said that right),,, seperate them for 12 -24 hours and see if the cow has good milk and good volume. Give the calf some good probiotics too.. Sometimes they are just like that,,sorta born losers!!
