Subject: RE: Which Moldboard plow?

Northern Idaho
Those old IH and wil-rich plows are popular around here and seem to be pretty good plows. We run an old 8 bottom melroe hinge back and a 6 bottom massey of the same vintage and there is not comparison in breakdowns/reliability. The melroe was not built heavy enough and has many breakdowns now as it gets older. The melroe won't go in hard dry ground as well as other plows either. There used to be several people here using melroes and now I think we are the only ones keeping one going. If we planned to do a lot of plowing for many years we would buy a better plow.
