I think the fuse has already been lit and it just went inside the box. It's now beyond our reach and we simply don't know how much fuse is left to burn before things go BOOM.

The only corrective measure to stop it is to immediately bring all derivatives onto an open exchange, mark them to market and require margins to settle them every night. Counterparties that cannot deliver on their end of these deals are immediately bankrupted and the derivatives are torn up and voided. Removing the systemic risk immediately from the system is the only thing that could possibly stop this. Since we all know they will never allow this, getting as far away from the burning fuse is the best we can hope for. 

With TPTB incapable of admitting their mistakes, being completely incompetent or possibly even complicit in all this the die has been cast, the explosion will be catastrophic and spectacular and the pain will be great. Lets hope a Weimar type event does not lead us to what followed for them. History shows the odds of getting an Adolf  are much greater than a George Washington
