Yes, that's the way we did it. Each plow carried a roll of #9 wire on it for replacement. They'd wear off or sometimes the tail wheel would run over the rear-most wire  & tear it off. The wire would fasten fairly high on the rolling-coulter shank. One for each bottom. I think we used to cut the wires about 6' long.
