We have a 4-year old Maytag front loader.  The "chore clothes" cycle is very long, time-wise,  because I do an auto pre-soak and an extra rinse, but his grimy clothes come out great.  I try to use a little Goop on the major grease spots, but refuse to do the whole front of each leg of the jeans!   Tide and Oxyclean in both the pre-soak and wash cycles, and seem to get along real well.
