Wyoming | Before you believe those numbers, realize this: there's a lot of folks who don't have the discretionary income they used to. They might want to change phones... but when they see the price to get out of their contract and then jump on the iPhone, they might very well say "Hmmmm. Well, I don't need an iPhone right now..."
And, on a rather grim note, if Apple's history is any guide, Jobs' stepping down from day to day management means that the company will buy a heapin' truckload of stupid in the next year. Just as HP was the "real HP" only when Bill and Dave were running it, Apple is only Apple when Jobs was running it. As a long time Apple customer and user, I think that's rather sad, but it is undeniably true. The best that Apple customers can hope for in the future is someone like Jack Louie Gasse', but given the current crop of corporate management making their way 'round the seats of US corporations, a repeat of Spindler is more likely. |
