3.5 horse seem to last longer than the 5 horse. In the end, they will pump just as much fuel. We had one years ago on a older fuel wagon that smoked so bad. In fact I was told to watch the smoke and if it stopped smoking to shut it down and add more oil. Sure enough, when it stopped smoking it was nearly dry of oil!
