Subject: Re: using sewage wastes as fertilizer

The quality of manure differs, depending on whether it was generated in small and medium sized farms that avoid routine feeding of their animals with sub-therapeutic antibiotics and hormones, to get the animals to gain weight faster. This practice is common in Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs). Several researchers measuring the air at CAFO hog farms have found antibiotic resistant air borne bacteria from the manure. Which explains the many hard-to-treat respiratory illnesses of CAFO workers and abutting neighbors.
