Chippewa County, MN | Waylon was number one on my list in the 70's and 80's. He came to the area in the mid to late 90's. I saw the ad in the paper one day, thought about it, looked up the ad the next day to order tickets and it had "cancelled" written across it. From there on Waylon's health just got worse. I never did get to see him. I did get to see Charley Pride last fall. He's the first singer I remember as a young 'un. He's as good today as he was in the 60's. I'd like to see George Jones someday also.
On a side note, I did get to see Alabama on their farewell tour. I remember about 10 minutes of it. I had had a steroid injection in my spine a couple days before the concert and on the way to the concert I got a "spinal head ache". Anyone who's had one knows it puts you right next to unconscious. So, I can say I was at the concert but the recollection isn't so good! They're getting back together for next years Wefest in Detroit Lakes. | |
