Downtown Shell Knob MO Come Visit! | The Mx220 is mechanical. the 270 is CAPS. I would rather have a 220 turned up to 500hp than those damn CAPS tractors.
Does the 220 have triple PTOs ? Im assuming the 7130 is single shaft.
The cab is much roomier on the mxs but I wouldn't consider it a super amount quieter. The mx has the shuttle which is nice for mixer/loader. But it seems like (at least in my case) my mx220 does not shift as smoothly as our 7140. The mx 220 is very jerky when it shifts ranges (every 4 gears, it is the worst going into 13th gear) While the 7140 shifts like all 18 are the same range, click click click, no slipping, no jerking. just good crisp shifts after 10k hours.
Also I like how cold the AC stays on the 71 during a good hot day. If it really hot and sunny, the mx vents will be blowing ice cold air but because there are no vents hitting you in the face and the glass area is larger, It doesn't keep a guy as cool as the 71 with the vents pointed at his head.
I could go on for longer, but the best way to describe it is: I would't trade my mx220 for a 7130 (or even 8930) anyday, but I never respected my 7140 so much until I had an mx220 to compare it too. If I was stranded in the middle of the desert and could only have one tractor to get me home. It would be the 71. If everything goes wrong, just jump the master solenoid or wire the injector pump kill switch and go to work.
I heard a man say once, "What makes a Mx, or newer magnum a perfect tractor is a box car magnum backing it up in the shed.
